The “Da Vinci Code” Controversy

Have you read the book?
If you have what are your thoughts about it?
Are you going to go see the movie? And Why?

These questions are basically the main discussion among the Coptic Egyptian community in the U.S. nowadays, and some other non-Egyptian Christians.

Before I begin to say anything, lets say that the Da Vinci Code is just a work of fiction. Don’t you agree? So whatever the book/movie states shouldn’t be taken to heart and shouldn’t shake one's beliefs as well.

The debate that I have been coming across nearly every day now since the movie is out in theatres is: should you or shouldn't you watch the movie?.

-Some say “it’s just a fiction movie, what’s wrong with watching it?”
-Others say, “If you go watch it, you’re promoting the Messages in the movie, and helping it succeed. How could you go watch a movie that’s delivering the wrong picture and beliefs about Mary M., Jesus and Christianity?”

Where do_you_stand? And why?

For those of you who haven’t read the book or don’t know anything about the story, this site is to give you an idea :)

Wow it's kinda sad that nobody is commenting on the one blog that ACTUALLY matters....anyways I think its just a stupid movie, see it don't see it who cares? If a movie can alter your religious beliefs than maybe you're not in any position to tell people what to or not to do. If you wanna see it fine, if you don't wanna see it, that's cool too just don't judge the people that saw it because hey guess what its FICTION!!! So go enjoy the movie for what it is, entertainment, 2 hours of mind numbing stimuli, don't read too much into things you'll miss out on a lot of fun.
